Congressman Chris Van Hollen today joined U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski and other elected officials to announce a $1.3 million federal grant to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service for its operations and safety program.
The Assistance to Firefighters award will fund critical communications equipment to enhance firefighter safety and accountability and to improve direct dispatch capabilities and first responder communications across jurisdictions in the Washington Metropolitan area.
“This funding is vital to our community,” said Congressman Van Hollen. “First responders put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and our homes. I will continue working to ensure that they have the funding and equipment necessary to do their jobs.”
The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service will provide displays and demonstrations of radio equipment, pagers and the associated components that will be funded by the grant.
