Van Hollen Statement on the Sixth Anniversary of the September 11 Attacks
United States Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) made the following statement on the sixth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks: “Today we pause to remember the tragic events of one of the darkest days in our history. It was on this day six years ago that thousands died in the most horrific terrorist attack on U.S. soil. “We remember those who lost their lives and keep their families in our prayers. “Earlier this year, the new Congress passed a sweeping new 9-11 Commission security bill to better protect America from terrorist attacks. We thank the families of the victims who turned their sorrow into change and helped bring these recommendations to fruition.
“The best memorial we can offer to those whose lives were lost is to do everything in our power to prevent future attacks, ensure the safety of the American people, preserve and protect the values on which this country was founded, and build a more peaceful world.”
