Van Hollen Statement on Gonzales Resignation

Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) today issued the following statement on the resignation of Alberto Gonzalez as U.S. Attorney General.

“Today's resignation of Alberto Gonzales is long overdue, but it is just the first step.  We must now work to restore credibility to the Justice Department and regain the trust of the American people.  My hope is that with the departure of Mr. Gonzales, the Justice Department can return to its mission of providing impartial law enforcement rather than playing the partisan politics of Karl Rove and the Bush Administration.”
