Van Hollen Meets With Teen Stroke Survivor

Student on Capitol Hill to Testify on the Need for Increased Funding for Research on Pediatric Stroke



United States Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) met with 13-year-old Eli Okun of Rockville.  Eli was on Capitol Hill today to testify before the House Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Labor-Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, on behalf of the Children's Hemiplegia and Stroke Association (CHASA), a national organization dedicated to providing support for children who have had strokes.  Eli spoke about the need for additional funding for National Institutes of Health (NIH) research on pediatric stroke.  Eli suffered a stroke at age seven. He lives in Rockville and attends Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring.
