Van Hollen Statement Saluting
Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) today released the following statement:

“For years I have been privileged to work with Doug Duncan on a number of issues important to the people of Montgomery County and the State of Maryland.  Although he has decided to withdraw from the governor’s race, Doug has left a legacy of good deeds and hard work behind him, and will continue to have a positive impact on the lives of so many people in years to come. Doug has always stood out as a dedicated public servant, an accomplished leader, and a caring person who has been committed to lifting up our entire community.  Doug has embodied the qualities we look for in a leader and has been a champion on the issues that the people of Maryland care about.

“Our sixth president, John Quincy Adams, once said, ‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.’ Doug Duncan’s leadership has inspired our community and made it an even better place to live and work.

“I have always known Doug as a person of great integrity.  I thank him, his wife Barbara and his entire family for the many sacrifices they have made so that Doug could dedicate his talents to public service.  I look forward to continuing to work with my friend Doug in the years ahead.”
