Washington, D.C. - Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) today announced the Interior Department’s decision to reprogram $300,000 towards the preservation of the historic Ballroom at the National Park Seminary at Forest Glen.
Van Hollen contacted the Interior Department on behalf of the Save Our Seminary’s National Park Seminary at Forest Glen redevelopment project in Silver Spring, Maryland to ensure funding for this project. The funds will be used to renovate and restore the historic ballroom.
"This is good news for the National Park Seminary,” said Van Hollen. “It is important that we work to restore and preserve historic places in our community. When historic buildings are allowed to deteriorate, a part of our history disappears forever.”
The National Park Seminary was listed as a Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The Ballroom (Ament Hall) is the tallest building on the campus and is located within the Historic District.
