Washington, D.C. - United States Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and the House and Senate Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucuses and the Sustainable Energy Coalition held the 7th Annual Congressional Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Expo and Forum today at the U.S. Capitol. Van Hollen is Vice-Chair of the House Renewable Energy and Efficiency Caucus.
Dozens of companies that produce high-tech, energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies displayed cutting-edge technologies that help provide solutions to some of our energy needs. The Expo provided an opportunity for members of Congress, Congressional staff, and federal agency officials to learn about these technology advances directly from the leaders in the industry.
“These exhibitors are at the forefront of a dynamic and rapidly growing global industry, said Van Hollen. “An industry that offers a grand slam home run for America – by protecting our environment, increasing our energy independence, enhancing our national security, and potentially ushering in the next wave of high-skill, high-wage manufacturing jobs for the 21st century.”
Two of the exhibiting companies were from Maryland’s Eighth Congressional District:
· CMC Energy Services located in Bethesda, a leading provider of innovative energy efficiency products and services, exhibited a model of a thermal window-shade system that is designed to save energy in both winter and summer, during the day and at night.
· RadTech International North America, a non profit organization located in Chevy Chase, is the association for the advancement of ultraviolet and electron beam (UV & EB) technology. RadTech serves as an industry forum, addressing the educational needs of the users and suppliers of the UV and EB equipment and materials.
