Beginning in May 2008, the Treasury Department will begin sending economic stimulus payments of between $300-600 per person to more than 130 million individuals. To qualify for a payment, one must have earned income over $3000 (including Social Security and veterans benefits). Parents may receive an additional $300 for each qualifying child (with a Social Security number). To receive this payment, one must file a 2007 tax return.
